Freebie Fridays

The past few weeks, I have been doing Freebie Fridays on my Facebook author page—where I give away copies of Elissa Blue along with two of my favorite books every Friday. It gives me a chance to share some of my all-time favorite books as well as Elissa Blue (naturally also a favorite πŸ˜€ ). I get so excited once I finally settle on the week’s three fabulous books that the giveaway usually begins late Thursday night. This week I’m even more out of control. I reasoned that since it’s already early morning in India, why not begin now? So here it is, 5:00 p.m. on a Thursday and I’m already calling it Freebie Friday. Can’t stop me! πŸ˜†

I have successfully weathered my first bad review! πŸ˜€ That may not seem like cause for celebration, but it feels like a rite of passage. I was talking to another author last week, and she was advising me not to read my reviews as it just gets too upsetting. I may get there (she has many more reviews than I), but for now, I’m still very intrigued to hear what my readers have to say. And I do appreciate the writer of the negative review as she gave me a great deal of constructive criticism and even a little praise. Not everyone is going to like my book, and that’s okay. Sometimes my books feel like my children, and my actual child can attest to how well I accept criticism of her, so I am immensely relieved that I don’t feel all mama bear over this review—just reflective.

I noticed an odd thing this past week: most of my followers on Facebook are teen girls from India. Not sure if it’s the time of day I post, my cover art or some je ne sais quoi, but I’m delighted with the enthusiasm from the other side of the Earth. πŸ˜€ I do worry a bit, though, as kissing is such a cultural taboo there, and well, my book has a fair amount of it. I’m hoping the kissing scenes cropping up in Bollywood films lately bode well for me, because Elissa Blue is a “kissing book.” πŸ˜‰
