Best. Package. Ever!!! :D

dsc_0930Barnes and Noble Publishing, you rock! The paperback copies of my book came today and they look great! B&N did an excellent job! And I hope you won’t think I’m too weird when I tell you, I can’t stop touching them! Somehow, the tangibility makes it more real that I have a published book! And I am so happy! It was a pretty rough day, but it just transformed into FABULOUS! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

amazon-paperback-pageThank you Amazon technical support for helping me figure out my goof in the wee hours this morning! Now my publishing duties are over until Book Two comes out. ๐Ÿ˜€ Probably. Except that I haven’t actually seen a physical copy of the book…hmm. That impatience thing may be affecting my judgment again—sigh. I have this lovely vision of myself white-haired, wrinkly, and wonderfully patient…just not there yet. Until then, I hope you can all have patience with my impatience! ๐Ÿ˜‰

nook-captureAfter staying up all night twice fiddling with codes and formatting on the Nook version of my book (sleep is stupid), it is finally available! So my Nook friends, please let me know how it looks. I don’t have a Nook, so I had to rely on B&N’s previewer. Once again, the minutiae of publishing is much more time-consuming and persnickety than I had realized; kudos to the publishing companies who make it look easy (it’s super not).

And just in case you’ve forgotten, I’m giving away a $25 Amazon gift certificate on March 1st. If you would like to be entered to win, just leave a comment below with a link to your review of my book. If you review it on multiple sites (Amazon, B&N, Goodreads, Kobo, etc.), just include the links and you’ll get an additional entry for each one. Thank you so much for your reviews! I love reading them. ๐Ÿ™‚

barnes-and-noble-paperback-screenI am a giddy joy monster!!! After much impatient waiting, my book just became available in paperback! Yes, it’s 1 a.m. Yes, I did wake up everyone to share my glorious news! Mom, you’re lucky I’m not texting you right now; I BARELY resisted! Oh man, I’m so excited! I just ordered some copies for myself, and now I am ecstatic for Monday to be here so I can thumb through it in panicky celebration and make sure there are no misprints. Ebooks are fabulous and I am addicted to my Kindle, but sometimes dreams just don’t seem real until you hold them in your anxious little hands! ๐Ÿ˜€

Odd Character Names Explained

melissa-blue-backside

If you’ve read my book or even just perused it, you might notice the odd character names. There’s a good reason for that! I decided about halfway through writing the book that I would use the common or scientific name of the butterfly whose wings they bear (usually shortened) for their first name and their species (or family) of butterfly as their last. For instance, Elissa Blue has Melissa Blue (Plebejus melissa) wings. Eventually, I’ll post a list of all the characters with their corresponding wings, but not today! If you’re dying to know which wings a particular character has and can’t figure it out from their name, leave a comment, and I’ll satisfy your curiosity. ๐Ÿ˜€

amazon-author-pageIt shouldn’t be a big deal, but it SO is!

I HAVE AN AMAZON AUTHOR PAGE! ๐Ÿ˜€

https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B01MZE49UL

I’ve looked up so many of my favorite authors this way, that it seems terribly odd and wonderful to see myself there. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Also, I have THREE WHOLE REVIEWS on my book! ๐Ÿ˜€ Yes, also not something that would normally be cause for celebration, but I just can’t help myself! And, to spread some of this giddy joy around, I’m going to do a giveaway for all you lovely potential reviewers out there. I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read and review my book. It’s odd to be on this side of it and realize just how heavenly a good review can be. I feel I should be rewarding those of you who impart this delightful sensation, so…

Everyone who reads and reviews my book between now and February 28th, please leave me a comment with a link to your review (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, Kobo, etc.), and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate. If you post your review on multiple sites, I’ll give you an entry for each one. Good luck! I’ll announce the winner on March 1st.

Published! :)

After messing with codes to get my ebook to generate all day yesterday, I finally succeeded in uploading it to Amazon.com. The wait can be as long as 72 hours before it becomes available online, but I couldn’t help checking just one more time before I went to bed at 1:45 a.m. And it was there! I was so unbelievably excited to see my own book in digital print, that sleeping was nigh impossible. I’ve vacillated between panicky chest pains and giddy bouncy excitement the last two days…and very little sleep. So now, I will put my first published baby out there, try to calm down, and finally get some rest. ๐Ÿ™‚
