I have successfully weathered my first bad review! ๐Ÿ˜€ That may not seem like cause for celebration, but it feels like a rite of passage. I was talking to another author last week, and she was advising me not to read my reviews as it just gets too upsetting. I may get there (she has many more reviews than I), but for now, I’m still very intrigued to hear what my readers have to say. And I do appreciate the writer of the negative review as she gave me a great deal of constructive criticism and even a little praise. Not everyone is going to like my book, and that’s okay. Sometimes my books feel like my children, and my actual child can attest to how well I accept criticism of her, so I am immensely relieved that I don’t feel all mama bear over this review—just reflective.

I love my reviewers!

It was so very scary the first time I let someone read Elissa Blue, and only marginally less scary each time afterwards. I published it terrified of the nasty reviews I would have to endure. Each positive review leaves me surprised, hopeful, and so grateful! Lately I’ve been receiving book reviews that have touched and charmed me so completely that I happy cry. A retired school teacher whom I admire commended my dialogue and called the book wonderful. A high school friend praised my metaphors (weren’t intentional, but oh well!) and message. And tonight, a Goodreads reviewer wrote “I truly loved this book, it melted my heart into a little puddle of happiness and left me content.” That is just how my reviews make me feel! Thank you so much!elissa blue meme reviews 3

Meme-tastic :)

I’ve never marketed a book before; I really don’t know what I’m doing. However, I developed a love of meme making during the last presidential campaign, and it’s really hard to stop. So I’ve redirected my meme creativity into marketing. Wanna see? I don’t know how effective they are as far as advertising, but I’m having fun. ๐Ÿ˜€ elissa blue meme ku reviewselissa blue meme reviews on black

I HAVE AN AMAZON AUTHOR PAGE! ๐Ÿ˜€

https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B01MZE49UL

I’ve looked up so many of my favorite authors this way, that it seems terribly odd and wonderful to see myself there. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Also, I have THREE WHOLE REVIEWS on my book! ๐Ÿ˜€ Yes, also not something that would normally be cause for celebration, but I just can’t help myself! And, to spread some of this giddy joy around, I’m going to do a giveaway for all you lovely potential reviewers out there. I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read and review my book. It’s odd to be on this side of it and realize just how heavenly a good review can be. I feel I should be rewarding those of you who impart this delightful sensation, so…

Everyone who reads and reviews my book between now and February 28th, please leave me a comment with a link to your review (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, Kobo, etc.), and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate. If you post your review on multiple sites, I’ll give you an entry for each one. Good luck! I’ll announce the winner on March 1st.
