I’ve been using WordPerfect since version 5.1 (that’s DOS, boys and girls!), even got pretty proficient in 6.0 and 6.1 as a professional word processor before grad school, but I have NEVER done anything so complex and awesome as the book cover I just finished in X8. Sure, the codes weirded out, gave me random black lines, forced page breaks, and disappearing graphics, but I persevered! And many hours later, my cover is ready for publishing! Wait, you say, didn’t you already publish a paperback version of Elissa Blue? Yes, I did. But I’ve learned that publishing through Amazon and Barnes and Noble online doesn’t help you get your book in physical bookstores. For that, you need a distributor everybody uses like Ingram. Also, Amazon and B&N help you with templates and formatting for your cover. Ingram just wants a PDF. And BAM! I did it! 😀
